Granny Square Scarf

H hook

Approx 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red
Approx 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver White

Granny Square (make 12)

With white, ch 5, join with a slipstitch to 1st ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 2, 3 dc in ring) 3 times. Ch 2. Slipstitch in top of first ch 3.

Rnd 2: ch 4, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 2 space. Ch 1. Rep from * 2 times. (3 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch 2 space. Slipstitch in 3rd ch of first ch 4, changing to white.

Rnd 3: Slipstitch into next ch 1 space, ch 3, work 2 dc in same space, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 2 space, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch 1 space, ch 1. Rep from * 2 times. (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch 2 space. Ch 1.

Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in same stitch and next 2 dc, sc in next ch 1 space, sc in each dc and space to next ch 2 space, repeat around working 1 sc in each dc and ch 1 space, and 3 sc’s in each ch 2 space. Join to first sc.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Sew 12 granny squares into a long strip. Work a sc around edge of scarf.

Long Stripes Scarf

Approx 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red
Approx 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver White

Note: Scarf is worked lengthwise. Carry unused color along side of scarf, do not cut at each color change.

With Red, ch 214

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, skip next sc, sc in next sc, rep from * across. Ch 1, turn.


Row 2: sc in first sc and in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * across to last sc, sc in last sc, changing to white in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3; sc in first sc (skip next sc), sc in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * to last 2 sc, ch 1 (skip second to last sc at end) sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: sc in first sc and in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * across to last 2sc, ch 1 (skip second to last sc at end) sc in last sc, changing to red in last sc. Ch 1, turn

Row 5: sc in first sc and in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * across to last 2 sc, ch 1 (skip second to last sc at end) sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

Rep Row 5 (alternating colors every two rows) for a total of 18 rows (5 red stripes, 4 white stripes)

Finish off and weave in ends.

Note: I worked a round of sc around my scarf to cover up the yarn that was carried along the side.

Short Stripes Scarf

H hook
approx. 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red
approx. 3 oz Red Heart Super Saver White

Note: carry unused color along edge of scarf, don't cut yarn after each color change.

With red, Ch 18

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sc in next ch, rep from * across.  Ch 1, turn

Row 2: sc in first sc and next ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * across to last sc, sc in last sc, changing to white in last sc. Ch 1, turn

Row 3: sc in first sc and next ch 1 space, *ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space, rep from * across to last sc, sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn

Row 4: rep Row 3, changing to red in last sc

Row 5: rep Row 3

Rep Rows 2-5 for a total of 192 rows (48 red stripes and 48 white strips)

Finish off and weave in ends

Box Stitch Scarf




H hook
3 oz Red Heart Super Saver Cherry Red
3 oz Red Heart Super Saver White

Note: you can cut your yarn at each color change and weave in all the ends or just carry the unused color along the side of the scarf and work a round of sc around the whole scarf at the end

Ch 20

Row 1: Work 3 dc in 4th ch from hook.  *skip 3 ch and sc in 4th ch.  ch 3, work 3 dc in same stitch.  Rep from * to last 4 chains.  Skip 3 ch and sc in last ch.

Row 2: Ch 3, turn.  Work 3 dc in first sc. *slipstitch in next ch 3 space.  ch 3, and work 3 dc in the same space.  Rep from * across, working sc in top of last ch 3, changing to white in last sc.

Row 3: Ch 3, turn. Work 3 dc in first sc. *slipstitch in next ch 3 space. ch 3, and work 3 dc in the same space. Rep from * across, working sc in top of last ch 3.

Row 4: Rep Row 3, changing to red in last sc.

Row 5: Rep Row 3

Row 6: Rep Row 3, changing to white in last sc.

Continue in pattern of 2 rows red, 2 rows white, etc. for a total of 98 rows.  (25 red stripes and 24 white stripes)

Finish off and weave in ends.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (17 sc) Ch 1, turn

Row 2: sc in first sc, (trc in next sc, sc in next sc) repeat across. Ch 1, turn

Row 3: sc in each stitch. Ch 1, turn

Rows 4-13: rep rows 2&3 5 times

Row 14: rep row 2, changing to white in last sc.  Ch 1, turn

Row 15: rep row 3

Rows 16-27: rep rows 2&3 6 times, changing to red in last sc.  Ch 1, turn

Rows 28-39: rep rows 2&3 6 times

Row 40: rep row 2, changing to white in last sc

Continue in pattern of 13 rows white, 13 rows red, etc. for a total of 144 rows. (6 red sections and 5 white sections)

Row 145: sc in each stitch.  finish off and weave in ends

Bubble Scarf

Note: scarf is worked lengthwise

Special stitches:

Bubble stitch: (YO, insert hook from bottom to top in free loop of sc indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook).  Repeat 3 times more, YO and draw through all 5 loops on hook.  Skip the sc behind the Bubble.

Long Treble Crochet (LTR): YO twice, insert hook from bottom to top in free loop of sc, YO and pull up a loop, (YO and draw through 2 loops on hook)3 times.  Skip the sc behind the LTR.

With Red, ch 174

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch. (173 sc) Ch 1, turn

Row 2: sc in each sc across, changing to white in the last sc. Ch 1, turn

Row 3: working in front loops only, sc in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn

Row 4: sc in both loops of first 5 sc, (work Bubble in sc one row below the next sc, sc in both loops of next 5 sc) repeat across.  Finish off.  (28 Bubbles and 145 sc) DO NOT TURN

Row 5: starting at the other end of the scarf, still working on the same side of the scarf, join red with a sc in the back loop only of first sc, sc in back loop only of next sc, work (LTR in sc 2 rows below next sc, sc in back loop only of next 5 stitches)repeat across until last 2 sc, sc in back loop only of last 2 sc. (29 LTR and 144 sc)  Ch 1, turn

Row 6: sc in both loops of each sc across (173 sc)  Ch 3, turn

Note: Ch 3 counts as first dc

Row 7: dc in each sc across (173 dc) Ch 1, turn

Row 8: sc in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn

Row 9: sc in each sc across,  changing to white in last sc.  Ch 1, turn

Row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook (first 2 chs count as first hdc) and in each ch across (176 hdc).  Ch 2, turn

Rows 2-3: hdc in each hdc across, changing to white in last hdc of Row 3.  Ch 2, turn

Row 4: hdc in each hdc across, changing to red in last hdc. Ch 2, turn

Rows 5-6: hdc in each hdc across, changing to white in last hdc. Ch 2, turn

Row 7: hdc in each hdc across, changing to red in last hdc.  Ch 2, turn

Rows 8-10: hdc in each hdc across. At end of Row 10, ch 1, sc around edges of scarf, working 3 sc in each corner.  Finish off and weave in ends.
